The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team was formed in 1985.


The Mission of the Special Response Team: “Recognizing that the presence of a highly trained, highly skilled police tactical unit has been shown to substantially reduce the risk of injury or loss of life to citizens, police officers and suspects; and recognizing that a well managed “team” response to critical incidents usually result in successful resolution of critical incidents, it is the intent of the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team to provide a highly trained and skilled tactical team as a resource for those law enforcement agencies who need assistance with critical incidents.

The Special Response Team trains on a regular basis on situations such as building search and secure, vehicle take downs, hostage situations and others.
